Currently, Texas Department of Health and Human Services-Licensing Division requires the completion of 3000 hours of supervised work for an LPC Internship. During that period of supervision, policy requires weekly meetings consisting of a one hour face-to-face meeting between the LPC Intern and the LPC Supervisor and one hour of group supervision with other LPC Interns and a Licensed LPC Supervisor.
Beyond those general guidelines, each individual intern's situation requires negotiation to adapt to that LPC Intern's circumstances. My criterions for consideration for entering into a supervisor/intern relationship are:
the candidate must be able to demonstrate that they have successfully passed the Texas State LPC Certification exam;
submit a complete work history with work and professional references.
